Secret Treaty Book Launch
November 17, 2024, 2 PM @ Mennonite Heritage Village
Join the Mennonite Coalition for Indigenous Solidarity and Mennonite Church Manitoba at the Mennonite Heritage Village for the launch Jonathan Dyck and elder Dave Scott’s book, The Secret Treaty: A Lost Story of Ojibwe and Mennonite Neighbours. The authors will be present to share stories of the West Reserve before Mennonite Settlement and first encounters between Ojibwe and latecomers. They seek to answer the question “How do we forge a different way of sharing this land?”
The evening will consist of table discussion and leading from elder Dave Scott and Jonathan Dyck, dessert and coffee will be provided. The gallery exhibit, “Mennonite Reflections: Arriving in Manitoba 150 Years Ago,” will be open for viewing throughout the evening.
Cost: $10/individual, $20/family
(Those who identify as First Nations and/or Métis will receive free admission and a graphic novel at the door)
Each ticket purchase comes with a free copy of the graphic novel ”The Secret Treaty: A Lost Story of Ojibwe and Mennonite Neighbours,” a $10 value. Extra copies of the book will be available for purchase at Village Books and Gifts.
